However, at Thursday's full council meeting it was agreed more funds should be directed towards the venture to allow the plans to progress, bringing the overall budget to £3.5 million. The project, which went out to tender earlier this year, suffered a setback when the responses came in over the planned budget. Works to reinstate four football pitches and changing facilities at the park – known locally as the Racecourse – remain in the pipeline for Renfrewshire Council. Plans to redevelop the once-thriving St James Playing Fields in Paisley and return it to its former glory are back on track after a hiccup.
